Valentin Thurn is producer and director, the author of Food Savers (2013) – screened in the Fresh Perspectives Competition at Pelicam this year. In 1990, he started to work for the public TV channels Arte, ARD, ZDF and since 1994 he owns the Thurn Film/ Valentin Thurn Film Production.
He is the author of more than 40 documentaries on social, developmental, environmental and educational issues. He has also thought at numerous schools and foundations around the world. Valentin has also published two books, written over 20 radio plays, written articles for newspapers and magazines.In 1993 he founded with journalists from over 50 countries, the “International Federation of Environmental Journalists”. He is the co-founder of the online platform foodsharing.de where consumers, dealers and producers can offer or pick up the surplus food for free, so it does not end up in the trash bin.
In April 2014, he initiated an online platform in Cologne to introduce to the consumers, food producers from their region.
